Friends, Let me know if this story sounds familiar:One day you wake up decided to become a graphic professional and times pass you by, and when you stop to do the math, you realise that fifteen years has passed since that day.Well, I was born on January 1984. I started my visual journey on November 1999.I have been on this world for only 30 years and I spent half of that time designing…So, just for this occasion, I created 8 posters that I will give away for a tweet (which is basically free).Go to http://pablozarate.com/about/15years/ and get yours! You can print them, edit them, play with them… show me what you done and if it makes me smile, I will send you a gift (yeap, that’s right).Let’s celebrate together 15 years of creative expression.PS.: You can still buy this posters (& other cool goodies) if you don’t want to tweet about it. There are available here in Society6 :)Waving from Buenos Aires,Pablo.

We love the work of artist and illustrator Lisa Congdon, who creates beautiful, colorful paintings and drawings. She was also one of the early speakers at our CreativeMornings/SanFrancisco chapter, where she speaks on her work and process. Watch her talk. →

  7. vignellicenter:

    Picturing the Vignellis

There are two books called design: Vignelli. The first published in 1981, is essentially a book of black and white images of the designs of Massimo and Lella Vignelli. The second design: Vignelli book was published in 1990. It is bigger, has more images (and in color!), more text, and more staff in the office to picture in the biography section. (Even a younger Michael Bierut!)

By looking at the sketches for these two books, we can see how their treatment of their biographies and portraits changed, while the cover is nearly the same. We can also see how clear the vision for the layout is and how closely the final design reflects the early sketches.

Check out this past post that shows more of the grid for the 1990 version of design: Vignelli.
